Picasso AI Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
Overview
Picasso AI ("we", "us") lets you generate and edit photos using AI. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how you can control it.
Information we collect
- Photos you upload — sent to our AI generation provider (OpenAI) to produce the edited/generated image, and not used to train models.
- Anonymous account identifier — created automatically via Firebase Authentication (anonymous sign-in) to track your credit balance. No name, email, or phone number is required to use the app.
- Credit balance and purchase records — stored in our database (Firebase Firestore) and processed through Apple's App Store (StoreKit) for in-app purchases. We never see your payment card details — Apple handles all billing.
- Generated images — saved locally on your device ("My Photos"). We do not upload or store a copy of your generated images on our servers beyond what's needed to process the request.
- Optional feedback — if you rate a generation (👍/👎), we store that rating together with the tool/template used, to help us improve results.
Face data & third-party AI processing
What face data we collect: Picasso AI does not use facial recognition or extract biometric identifiers on its own. The only "face data" involved is the photo you voluntarily choose to upload, which may depict your face or likeness.
What is sent, and to whom: When you request a generation or edit, the photo you uploaded (and, for templates, a reference template image) is sent over an encrypted connection to OpenAI's API. OpenAI processes the image to produce the requested photorealistic result and returns it to our server, which sends it back to your device. No other third party receives your photo.
Use: The uploaded photo is used solely to generate the specific image you requested (e.g. applying a template's pose/style to your likeness, or performing the specific edit you selected). It is not used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to producing your result.
Training: Per OpenAI's API data usage policy, data submitted through the API is not used to train OpenAI's models.
Storage & retention: We do not store your uploaded photo on our own servers — it is forwarded to OpenAI for processing and discarded from our backend once the result is returned. OpenAI retains API inputs and outputs only briefly (in line with their published API data retention policy, currently up to 30 days) for abuse and safety monitoring, after which it is deleted. The generated result image is saved only locally on your own device, under "My Photos," unless you delete it yourself.
Deletion: Since we do not keep a server-side copy of your uploaded or generated photos, there is nothing on our servers to delete for a given photo beyond the brief OpenAI processing window described above. You can delete any photo saved to your device at any time from within the app.
Consent: Before any photo can be uploaded or processed for the first time, the app shows an explicit consent screen describing this data flow, and requires the user to tap "I Agree & Continue" before proceeding.
Third-party services
- OpenAI — processes uploaded photos to generate the requested image edit.
- Firebase (Google) — anonymous authentication, credit balance storage, and Cloud Functions used to process requests.
- Apple StoreKit — handles all in-app purchases and billing.
Data retention & deletion
You can delete your locally saved photos at any time from within the app. To request deletion of your account data (credit balance, feedback records) from our servers, email us and we'll process your request.
Children's privacy
Picasso AI is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
